VisAbility Solutions Releases Rebuilt SmartMarker™ Detection Engine, Doubling Label-Reading Speed

New executive summary for clients details faster processing, more labels found in lower-resolution images, and more precise positioning, with no changes needed to existing installations
HOUSTON, Texas — October 26, 2026 — VisAbility Solutions today released an executive summary to its clients detailing the performance of its completely rebuilt SmartMarker™ detection engine, the software that finds and reads SmartMarker™ labels in camera images. It is the biggest performance leap since SmartMarker™ launched.
Measured on real images from a production deployment, the new engine:
Reads labels 1.7× to 2.2× faster per image on a single CPU core. That is about half the processing time, so the same hardware can cover more cameras or check each camera more often.
Finds up to 37% more labels in 1080p images (16% more at 2K). Smaller or more distant labels and more affordable cameras perform better than ever.
Locates each label 4–7× more precisely, with a 0.05-pixel median position error. The advantage holds even when images are blurred.
Delivers consistent results. The same image always produces the same result, and no false detections were found in review.
Existing installations keep working exactly as they are: camera configuration files are read unchanged and printed labels stay the same. As with any update, VisAbility recommends a short validation on each site's own images.
